Steve McNair left this tiny south Mississippi town to become an NFL star, though his presence remained. The local hero's death on the Fourth of July left most of Mount Olive's 1,000 residents stunned and distraught. As they prepared to say goodbye with a funeral Saturday, they again recalled tales of his athletic prowess.

The woman who killed Steve McNair before turning the gun on herself was buried Friday in Florida in a private ceremony with about 30 friends and family members. Sahel Kazemi, 20, was laid to rest in a modest brown casket after a 30-minute ceremony at Jacksonville Memory Gardens, just before a rain shower began.
Man says he panhandles to repay Brady (AP)
A man who unwittingly stole two flower planters worth $8,000 from behind Tom Brady's Boston condominium says he has to panhandle to pay restitution. Dennis Paiva tells the Boston Herald he scours the streets for trash to sell. He says he took the planters from behind a condominium because they were next to the trash and sold them for $450.
McNair girlfriend upset before shootings (AP)
At just 19 years old, Sahel Kazemi thought she had it all: She was dating former NFL star Steve McNair, partying in VIP rooms and vacationing in Las Vegas. When her family visited Nashville for her 20th birthday less than two months ago, they said she was very happy and planning to move in with McNair.
Haynesworth on probation for 3 months (AP)
Washington Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth has pleaded no contest to a reckless driving charge in Tennessee and will be on probation for three months. Court records from show Haynesworth entered his plea Thursday morning in the Nashville suburb of Franklin. He's required to perform 25 hours of community service, make a $5,000 charitable contribution and attend driving school.
McNair taped suicide prevention PSA (AP)
Tennessee state officials say they had been preparing a youth suicide prevention public service announcement featuring former NFL quarterback Steve McNair before he was shot and killed last week. The Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities says it's shelving the 60-second television spot, which hasn't yet aired.
