Peyton Manning / Fantasy Football Team Preview: Colts

FanHouse is knocking out your fantasy football 2010 team previews one day at a time. With the new season on the horizon, we're covering all 32 potential champions.

Meet the ...
Best connection in fantasy football. You may argue the sentiment, but more often than not Peyton Manning and Reggie Wayne will be the first QB-WR duo off the board in fantasy drafts. It's easy to see why -- Wayne has become a lock for 1,000-yard seasons, and he's scored nine TDs or more in four of the last six years. Manning is still the best quarterback in the NFL, though in fantasy football he ranks just third heading into the season. The Indianapolis quarterback has thrown for 4,000 yards or more in 10 of his 11 NFL seasons and he has at least 31 TDs in three of his last four seasons. His 4,500 yards and 33 TDs in 2009 were his best marks since 2004, and that's because he threw the ball more than he has in a year since 2002. When you add in top fantasy tight end Dallas Clark, it's easy to see that this is the passing game you want a piece of in your draft.

2011 Super Bowl Odds: NFL Training Camp Edition

We're getting closer and closer to the NFL season. Are you excited yet? I know I am.

With training camp on the horizon, and teams rounding out their rosters, many of us are thinking one thing: who's going to win Super Bowl XLV?

Some people are high on Mark Sanchez and the Jets, who took the playoffs by storm last season and nearly got to the big game.

Others like the Patriots, with Tom Brady and Randy Moss both playing for contracts.

And you can't count out the Vikings either, who were oh-so-close to getting there last season.

Look, I'm not a psychic, but I'm pretty close. Click below to check out every team's odds to bring home the coveted Lombardi trophy.

Summer Scramble 2010: AFC South Burning Questions, Bold Predictions

Steve Slaton

It's July, the slowest month of the year for the NFL. So what better time to start breaking down the upcoming season? From July 6-27, FanHouse will take an in-depth look at each division to help prepare you for training camp. We're calling it our Summer Scramble.

Coming July 20: NFC South Players to Watch

Burning Questions

How will the Texans' running game sort itself out?

The three main candidates at this time at running back are third year player Steve Slaton, second-year player Arian Foster and rookie Ben Tate. Slaton is coming off a season where he looked tentative making decisions at the line, fumbled the ball and eventually underwent neck surgery to relieve a nerve issue. Foster looked good in the last few games of the season. Tate was drafted in the second round likely because Slaton's post-surgical neck X-rays include screws (the squeamish shouldn't click on that link). The uncertainty at running back doesn't help fantasy football players much, but whomever survives camp healthiest and is practicing the best will be the running back that sees time on the field.

With a before-camp guess, I'm thinking Slaton and Foster are the tandem that starts the season with Tate getting more time as he gets more accustomed to protections, filling in for whichever running back ahead of him that gets hurt or under-performs.

Coming July 19: AFC South Burning Questions, Bold Predictions

Houston Texans -- Kris Brown and Neil Rackers

Arguably, if the Texans had a reliable kicking game last year, they would have been in the playoffs. Brown, who has been with the team since its inception, became unreliable in practice and unreliable in games. Brown claims that his issues were mechanical and fixable but that they weren't in-season fixes. The Texans decided to bring in competition in Neil Rackers, another kicker who went from reliable to ... well ... not so much. So far, their competition has been pretty evenly matched. Special teams coach Joe Marciano says that the Texans even obtained smaller, arena league-sized goal posts for practice so that the regular ones seem bigger.

Kickers are notoriously inconsistent from year to year, but last year was a particularly bad one for kickers throughout the league.

Peyton Manning / Fantasy Football Cut-N-Go: Falcons Offense to Open Up for Ryan

The Cut-N-Go is back to keep you up-to-date on all the NFL news that affects the upcoming fantasy football season.

When Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan gets done throwing the ball for a living, he may have an opportunity to sling words around. On Monday Ryan took over Peter King's Monday Morning Quarterback column at Sports Illustrated, and did a darned good job of it too.

Ryan's work ethic has never been questioned. He's the first person at Falcons HQ every day and the last to leave. Whether it's the weight room or the film room, he's a star and he's always working to get better. Ryan mentions that he spent a good portion of the offseason studying prolific passers in the National Football League. I went to see our video guys and requested game tape of the Colts, Cowboys, Patriots, Chargers, Packers, and Saints to see what those teams were doing and whether there were things the Falcons could incorporate. While analyzing and studying those six offenses, I closely watched the quarterbacks -- Peyton Manning from the Colts, Tony Romo from the Cowboys, Tom Brady from the Patriots, Phillip Rivers from the Chargers, Aaron Rodgers from the Packers and Drew Brees from the Saints -- to see what each guy did to make his team so effective.

Tim Tebow Takes Early Lead in NFL Jersey Sales

Tim TebowEven before he plays an official down on an NFL field, Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Tim Tebow has scored on one front that matters: jersey sales.

Tebow, the former Heisman Trophy winner at Florida, has seen more of his jerseys sold than any other player at NFLShop.com during the period from April 1 to June 30, according to Darren Rovell of CNBC.

Tebow, the 25th overall choice in April's NFL Draft, is ahead of Donovan McNabb, the former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback who was dealt to the Washington Redskins in the offseason, and New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees, the reigning Super Bowl MVP.

Peyton Manning / Peyton Manning extension talks moving slowly

The Colts and Peyton Manning are taking things slow when it comes to extending his contract, according to Pro Football Talk.

Our View: Bill Polian said that he's been talking to Manning's agent, Tom Condon, but slowly, because both sides are trying to work out a deal that will stand no matter what happens with Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiations. This means that Manning could enter the season with no extension. Of course, the Colts could always just franchise him.
