Romo has looked very sharp so far in camp, and is already showing some nice chemistry with rookie wide receiver Dez Bryant, the Dallas Morning News reports.

Impacts: Romo hooked up with Bryant on a nice back-shoulder throw during Tuesday morning's practice, an excellent sign for the level of communication that's already developed between the two. Romo seems to have taken his offseason very seriously, and given all the weapons at his disposal a truly monstrous statistical season could be in the works.

Tony Romo / Cowboys practice report, Day 2: Pt. 2

SAN ANTONIO -- The Cowboys finished their first two-a-day of training camp on Sunday. Here's the highlights of a pass-happy second practice.

*Quarterback Tony Romo looked a lot better in the second practice. He threw sharp passes to a variety of receivers and wasn't afraid to zip throws into some coverages. During the 7-on-7 passing drills, Romo was victimized by a drop from Miles Austin and a forced fumble. Jamar Wall stripped Austin after a short gain and after a scramble for the loose ball, the offense got the ball back.

Tony Romo / Romo stresses details to Dez

SAN ANTONIO – Tony Romo has seen enough of Dez Bryant to call the Cowboys' first-round pick “a good football player.”

Just how good? Romo wants to see the kid prove himself before getting carried away. Every bit of praise he gives Bryant seems to be followed by a reminder that the details determine the difference between a prospect and a producer.

Tony Romo / Dez Bryant gets up early and has nice day

SAN ANTONIO -- There were a few players who received loud ovations when they walked onto the football field at the Alamodome on Saturday: Tony Romo, DeMarcus Ware, Miles Austin and of course rookie wide receiver Dez Bryant.

Tony Romo / Position battle: Free vs. Barron

SAN ANTONIO -- Worried about Doug Free protecting Tony Romo's blind side? His performance in his first training camp practice as the Cowboys' starting left tackle won't ease those concerns.

Twice during team drills, backup outside linebackers blew by Free for what would have been clean shots at Romo's back. Free didn't get a finger on Brandon Williams or Steve Octavien as they turned the corner on simple speed rushes.

Dez Bryant Steals Show in First Practice With Cowboys

SAN ANTONIO -- Midway through his first NFL practice, Dez Bryant snared a 12-yard crossing route from Tony Romo in full stride. Bryant gave a defender a little hip move, then sped toward the sideline before turning upfield and racing 50 yards into the end zone.

No one bothered to give chase.

For the roaring 19,437 at the Alamodome for the start of Dallas Cowboys training camp, it might as well have been a December game against a hated NFC East foe.

"The crowd made me work hard," Bryant said. "The fans are showing me a lot of support and I'm going to do the same for them by giving everything I have on the field."

Untapped Patience Could Make Cowboys Super Stars in Dallas

Tony RomoThe Cowboys hymn for the last two seasons has been finish. Finish every run, catch, block, tackle, practice and game.

We know how that finished.

Wade Phillips' first three seasons as Dallas coach has stirred the finish chant. His first season (2007) produced a spicy 13-3 regular season but a frazzled 21-17 playoff loss at home to the Giants that helped rocket the Giants -- not the Cowboys -- toward the Super Bowl XLII championship.

It was 9-7 two seasons ago for Phillips and Dallas and no playoffs. It was 11-5 last season, the NFC East crown, a playoff victory (the franchise's first in 13 years) over Philadelphia before a wipeout, rotten 34-3 playoff loss at Minnesota.

So, the finish message still needs kneading.

And Dallas must tweak it with this in 2010 -- patience.

We don't think Cowboys and patience. We don't think owner Jerry Jones and patience. But as Dallas opens its training camp on Saturday in San Antonio, a huge reason why this team is a legitimate Super Bowl contender is patience.

Jones holds Texas-sized expectations for his Cowboys

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones seemed to be trying to temper the obvious expectations he has for his team. Not so easy when the next Super Bowl will be played in his own stadium, and the Cowboys could be in position to play in that game next February.

Cowboys Embrace Texas-Sized Expectations as Training Camp Opens

SAN ANTONIO -- They do everything bigger in Texas. But the asteroid of expectations bearing down on the Dallas Cowboys seems a little extreme, even for America's Team.

A checklist:

o. The Cowboys turn 50 years old this year and will spend the 2010 season honoring their glorious history and an all-time record that equals the best winning percentage in NFL history.

o. Emmitt Smith, the former Cowboy, icon and league's career rushing leader, will be inducted in the Pro Football Hall of Fame next month, the same weekend the Cowboys open the NFL preseason against the Cincinnati Bengals.

o. Super Bowl XLV, where the league champion will be crowned Feb. 6, 2011, will be played at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, at the palace owner Jerry Jones built and opened last season. With a capacity in excess of 105,000, the region's first Super Bowl is expected to draw the largest crowd in NFL history.

o. Which brings us to the actually Dallas pro football team. The '10 Cowboys will christen the season Saturday by being the first club to open training camp. About 20,000 fans turned out Friday night at the Alamodome for a free concert and pep rally to see their mighty campers paraded onto the stage. The Cowboys return 20 of 22 starters to a team that went 11-5 last season, won the NFC East behind top-10 offenses and defenses, claimed the club's first playoff victory in 14 years, and in April added a potential game-breaker in rookie wideout and first-round pick Dez Bryant, out of Oklahoma State. The Cowboys are just about everybody's preseason pick to represent the NFC in that February football festival that will play out in Big D.

The quarterback wrapped up the three-day event Sunday with his best round of the tournament and finished tied for second place. Former NFL quarterback Billy Joe Tolliver, who pulled away from the field in the second round, cruised to victory with 84 points in the modified Stableford scoring format.

Tim Tebow Takes Early Lead in NFL Jersey Sales

Tim TebowEven before he plays an official down on an NFL field, Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Tim Tebow has scored on one front that matters: jersey sales.

Tebow, the former Heisman Trophy winner at Florida, has seen more of his jerseys sold than any other player at NFLShop.com during the period from April 1 to June 30, according to Darren Rovell of CNBC.

Tebow, the 25th overall choice in April's NFL Draft, is ahead of Donovan McNabb, the former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback who was dealt to the Washington Redskins in the offseason, and New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees, the reigning Super Bowl MVP.

Tony Romo / Report: Tony Romo’s ex finds an ex-player to date

Some said Eric Johnson was an overachiever when he went from being a seventh-round draft pick out of Yale by the San Francisco 49ers to becoming a reliable part of the passing attack, catching a career-high 82 passes in 2004.

Now, he might be really overachieving. TMZ.com reports that Johnson, who last played in the NFL for the New Orleans Saints in 2007, is dating Jessica Simpson. Either that or Simpson has faded quite a bit from the spotlight since her relationship with Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo ended.
