Steelers GM Kevin Colbert reportedly will be targeted by the Panthers – Yardbarker

The Carolina Panthers made the surprising move to fire longtime head coach Ron Rivera after almost nine seasons in that role. Even though the Panthers are in the midst of a four-game losing streak, no one could have predicted Carolina firing Rivera in the middle of the season. It now looks like this could be part of a broader shakeup for owner David Tepper and the Panthers. According to MMQB’s Albert Breer, Carolina could target Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert for a top front-office position in the offseason. Colbert, whose contract will come to an end following the 2019 season, has been with the Steelers since 2000. He has a built-in relationship with Tepper dating back to the new Panthers owner having a minority stake in the Steelers organization from 2009-18. If this were to come to fruition, the Panthers would be adding one of the most respected personnel figures in the NFL. It’s certainly something to watch.
